What happened

The project's closing evening was held in the council chamber of Tourcoing City Hall, a venue chosen for its symbolic value as a place of debate and civic engagement. After the welcome speeches by the school's headteacher and the regional delegate for European and international relations, round tables brought together students, teachers, senior residents and project partners to look back on two years of workshops and encounters. The evening continued with the premiere of the final version of the short film, the presentation of the intergenerational platform and stands to discover the project's tools (platform, intergenerational guide, Quizlet), before a friendly get-together.

What participants took away

A survey conducted after the evening collected qualitative feedback. Participants especially remembered the encounters between students and older people, described as enriching and moving, the diversity of the countries involved, the personal testimonies and the project's productions, the film first of all. They feel WIFII promoted respect, dialogue and openness, challenged stereotypes and showed that diversity is a strength; for young people, they noted greater confidence, autonomy and language skills. The message they take away: everyone has something to contribute, diversity enriches and no one should be left behind.
